In memory of the late Elaine Bromfield, a passionate advocate for women’s rights, the Front Royal Women’s Resource Center (FRWRC), in cooperation with the Bromfield Family, established a scholarship: the Elaine Bromfield Memorial Fund for the Empowerment of Women.
For thirty years, Elaine Bromfield, together with her husband Ted Bromfield, owned and ran the Warren Sentinel. She was a tireless advocate for women’s rights and for years lobbied for the passage of an Equal Rights Amendment to the US Constitution. She was a founding mother both of Harmony House, a shelter for abused women and their children, and of the FRWRC.
The Elaine Bromfield Scholarship empowers women in financial need with the courage and determination to pursue educational training that will lead toward self-sufficiency. It is awarded to women residing in Warren County, age 20 and over. The educational scholarship is presented annually during the Dare to Dream grant cycle.
This scholarship program was established in 2012 to honor the memory of Elaine Bromfield, a passionate advocate for women’s rights. The Front Royal Women’s Resource Center, in cooperation with the Bromfield family, established this scholarship for the empowerment of women.
Applicants may apply for support in any field of study. Grantees are selected each year from the pool of applications received during the Dare to Dream application process and presented at the annual Dare to Dream Breakfast. The grant amount is given directly to the educational institution.
