The Dare to Dream program was established to provide women with an opportunity to enrich their personal and professional lives. Grant amounts vary with a maximum amount of $1,000 which goes directly to the school or vendor. These are presented to local women each March to help make their dreams become a reality.
Founded in 1999 by founder JoEllen McNeal, the purpose of the grant is to provide women living or working in Warren County, 18 years and older, opportunities to move forward with their lives whether it be to continue their education, start or expand their business, buy a computer or provide a specific service to the community, etc.
A call for grant applications is put out in the fall for a three-month period throughout the community. Applications are reviewed by committee members and a consensus is established regarding final applicants to be interviewed. Applications are considered based on the merit of the project; research and efforts made toward the dream and financial need. Finally, the committee interviews each finalist, awards are determined, and we announce the grant recipients at our Dare to Dream Breakfast.
