The FRWRC Fall Breakfast
FRWRC’s Annual Fall Breakfast took place last Thursday, Sept. 19th at the Shenandoah Valley Country Club. We were more than rewarded for our early rising as we walked into the beautifully appointed room to see the sun rising over the grounds of the country club. To add to this there were beautiful floral arrangements, wonderful women, lovely auction items to be had and good food.
The speaker, Liv Heggody, was dynamic and interesting. Liv, who is the Director of Development at Lord Fairfax Community College, spoke on the impact of women’s education globally, nationally, and here in the valley.
She stressed the importance of economic independence and sited education as the key to independence. It was moving to hear her speak so eloquently on what we try so hard to do locally. She tied in our goals of educating women and giving them a step up in the world to what others are doing globally. It was a poignant reminder of what we all need to be doing in big and small ways to create a better world.
Our gratitude and deep appreciation goes out to everyone who attended the breakfast. To those who donated silent auction items and purchased auction items or raffle tickets or contributed to our 100 Club, thank you! A special thank you to our wonderful sponsors – Lord Fairfax Community College, Beth Medved Waller and Anonymous donors. This breakfast netted us over $1,800 that will go to our Dare to Dream and Girl Grant fund. As always, we could not do it without you. We are making a difference.
