Carol Toba November 2025 – Voices of the Valley

Voices-of-Valley-Women

October

Clinging leaves dance in the wind, while those that shimmy down

join the sticks that had announced their descent on the roof. This

year redbud leaves are black and dry,  so eyes turn to remaining flowers

and higher mountains for  color.

The park is open, entrance free, welcoming a massive exodus from

the weight of daily news to the uplift of beauty and nature. Blacksnakes

are determined to come in the house. Uninvited,  but persistent, on occasion

succeed. The yard, gardens and decks are shared with the mountain critters

Please, allow me the house!

As the sun retreats south and days shorten and cool,  native inhabitants

must adapt to the changing season, fewer wildflowers and more mosquitoes

as must I.
