Susan Tschirhart of Next Bend Adventures

We are proud to celebrate Susan Tschirhart, a Front Royal Women’s Resource Center Dare to Dream Grantee and the founder of Next Bend Adventures.

Susan’s work is rooted in curiosity, courage, and connection. Through Next Bend Adventures, she helps people explore the Shenandoah Valley in a deeper way, not just by walking the trails, but by learning the stories, landscapes, and hidden history that live along the way.

This summer, Susan is helping bring a forgotten piece of Warren County history back into view through a guided History Hike in partnership with the Warren Heritage Society. The hike explores the story of Belmont Vineyards and Fruit Farm, once one of Virginia’s most important vineyard operations. Participants will walk through the Blue Ridge Mountains, learn about the land’s history, and see traces of the past still tucked into the landscape.

For Susan, outdoor adventure is more than recreation. It is a way to build confidence, invite discovery, and help people feel connected to place. Her work reminds us that learning does not have to happen inside four walls. Sometimes, the most meaningful lessons are found on a trail, around a bend, or in a story that has been waiting to be heard.

Susan’s journey reflects the heart of the Dare to Dream program: supporting women as they grow their ideas, strengthen their voices, and create something meaningful for the community.
