I’ll See You Tomorrow
We say the phrase with certainty
A child receives the words
Tucked in to sleep and awakens to a new day.
A war torn child cannot have that assurance
Terrified of a nightly strike
There are no dreams of popsicles and treats
Barely restful sleep can come.
Misery falling upon small beings
Robbing them of the joy of childhood.
“I’ll see you tomorrow” should be assured
No parent should fear to even say those words
No child should fear that tomorrow will never come.
No child should suffer chaos in their lives
An uncertainty of hope, of life going on.
Unpredictable events surrounding their lives
Peace must come.
