Guest Speaker: Caroline Wood; Dean at LFCC, Fauquier Campus

Topic: Imposter Syndrome at the intersection of Positive Psychology

“Imposter Syndrome at the intersection of Positive Psychology.” As women many of us have underlying beliefs that we are frauds or will be found out as an imposter. That self-doubt takes its toll. I will explore imposter syndrome, and take a look at it through the lens of positive psychology. Positive Psychology is a strengths based approach to Psychology. It can be a useful tool when coping with self-doubt.

Caroline Wood has been the Campus Dean at Lord Fairfax Community College’s Fauquier Campus since June of 2016. In her role she works in both academic affairs and student services. Prior to Lord Fairfax, Caroline spent a decade with Howard Community College in Maryland in various roles in student services and academic affairs. The first dozen years of Caroline’s career, she was a broadcast journalist serving radio stations in Wyoming, Maryland, and Delaware. She earned her BA from Drew University, an MS in Counselor Education from McDaniel College, and is currently writing working on her Ed.D in Organizational Leadership from Northeastern University. Caroline is incredibly passionate about education as social justice and believes deeply in the mission of community colleges.

Note from Beth Waller: In late March 2016, we opened a new space on Main Street in the Middle of Main building. It is called Team Waller’s “Open House: Meet in the Middle” and will serve as a resource to our community. We will offer a wealth of real estate and community information, as well as cutting edge technology to learn more about listings, the buying process, and our local community attractions and resources. This space isn’t just for Beth Waller Real Estate; it is for the entire community. We will open our doors to community groups to educate the public about the causes that are close to their hearts and also offer our space as a meeting venue to anyone in need of a local location. Helping our community grow and serve as a resource to our neighbors is “What Matters” to us.
