7:00 PM to 7:45 PM
Virtual/via Zoom Webinar (broadcast live to Facebook)

Guest: Alicia Pownall, DVM; Humane Society

Host: Eka Kapiotis

Topic: The impact of spay and neuter efforts on our community and Spay-it-Forward campaign

Dr. Pownall will share information about the clinic's day in and day out and the impact they are making on the pets in our community. By offering a more affordable option for spay and neuter, a lot of pets that otherwise would be left intact and having unwanted litters or detrimental health concerns are still able to get great care. By partnering with other rescue organizations and numerous shelters, they have helped get lots of homeless pets the surgeries they need to be adopted or returned to their feral cat colonies. They are also proud of their Spay-it-Forward program in which donations fund surgeries for pets that otherwise couldn’t afford care at all! Dr. Pownall looks forward to sharing her passion with the group.

Alicia Pownall, DVM

Born and raised in Martinsburg, WV, I attended West Virginia University for my undergraduate studies, followed by veterinary school at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine in Starkville, Mississippi. After graduation, I worked in small animal private practice for 2 years, before delving into shelter medicine at the Humane Society of Warren County’s Spay clinic. I have 2 pups of my own and a 2 year old toddler to keep my busy in my “free” time. I enjoy crafting, reading, and hanging out at the river when the weather is nice!
