A native of Georgia, Kelly Walker, a daily painter and owner of The Studio on Main Street in Front Royal, Virginia, began painting in oils in the late 1980’s as a fluke.  While suffering with the flu, she saw a painting program on PBS and thought, “I can do that!”.  And in the following weeks as she experimented with oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastels.  And now she works everyday to help other people discover their own creativity.

Kelly received a BS in Secondary Education from Georgia Southern College.  She spent many years working as an executive in Chambers of Commerce in Kentucky and Virginia.  Now she uses her background to operate The Studio – A Place for Learning, a unique teaching studio where people can come to explore and learn all things creative. No pressure…just FUN!

She opened The Studio-A Place for Learning to create opportunities for the community  to explore fine arts, crafts and other areas of personal development in a casual  environment. A variety of classes and workshops are offered each month for every skill level ranging from the absolute beginner exploring a new craft to the experienced and seasoned artist or craftsman.

The Studio space is also available for rent for small group classes, workshops, or parties at a very reasonable rate.  Our ultimate goal is to help people overcome their fears and discover their innate creativity by trying something new.

Kelly has had many successful solo art shows in Kentucky and Virginia.  Every year since 2013 Kelly has been named “Best Local Artist” by the readers of the Northern Virginia Daily.  In March 2006 the Blue Ridge Arts Council named Kelly the “Arts Citizen of the Year”.  Kelly is a firm believer in public/community service and is very active in many organizations in the community.  She founded the Warren County Dog Park Association and is very active in dog rescue groups around the country often providing them with art for fund-raising.

Kelly is the proud to say that she is owned by two rescue dogs – Jed, an 8 year-old basset-lab mix and Lincoln, a 7 year-old Terrier mix.
